Welcome!

Healthy living…who doesn’t want that? I’m on a quest to become the healthiest me that I can be by losing weight, exchanging my sedentary lifestyle for a more active one, and fully recovering from the dreaded post-Covid syndrome that has plagued me for months.

I wrote a book detailing my Healthy Life Plan, my battle with Covid, perhaps some of the reasons why I became an emotional overeater, and some of the things I am doing to find more joy in life called I know I'm in Here Somewhere: A Journey towards Discovering Health, Wellness, and Joy. The no-cost e-book is available below. Why am I offering this book at no cost you ask? Well, there were many people who helped me recover from Covid. I survived because they were there for me and many others. I think we need to be there for one another as we ride the oftentimes bumpy road of life.

My goal is to create an encouraging space while on this journey to become healthier and happier. A number of programs for weight loss show only pictures of perfectly fit beautiful young people, but what about the rest of us? The overweight, maybe a little bit older people who aren't feeling their most attractive right now? There is room for all here, and there is no cost involved. Becoming healthy shouldn’t be limited to those who can afford some expensive program—not all of us can do that, but we all have the need to be as healthy as we can possibly be.

Let’s learn how to make better choices of what we eat and how to get a bit more movement in our lives. We aren't expected to be perfect...that is never the goal here. We all need to assess our health, make a plan, and then begin implementing that plan to the best of our abilities. You are in the right place if you want to start making better choices for yourself in a positive environment!

Setbacks can happen in life and we have to make adjustments. Sometimes I have to change things up a bit. I am figuring out how to make it all work for myself—you can do it, too!

If this sounds like something that you'd like to try, start reading I Know I'm in Here Somewhere: A Journey Towards Health, Wellness, and Joy. Chapter one details the basic plan and can help get you started on your journey to becoming your healthiest self! Chapter ten is journal-like starting with my experiences from the beginning of the program onward. Follow along as I discover what works and what doesn't,  and offer tips, suggestions, encouragement, and insights into the wonderful world of healthy living.

Also, let us know how you're doing...your encouragement can help someone just starting out! I love when I hear about people making healthier choices, and how much the Healthy Life Plan is helping them!

Goals

My goal is to be the healthiest me that I can be! One thing I need to do on the road to good health is to get rid of the unhealthy excess weight. My weight loss goal is100 pounds. I am now over sixty percent of the way there! The Healthy Life Plan is not a fad diet. In fact, it is not a diet at all, but a lifestyle change. I have not gone hungry even once. If you have a goal and a plan, you can do just about anything! I know I need to do this and help myself because no one is going to do it for me! Much of my health is up to me, and I choose good health!

Soul-baring Update with Photos

September 10, 2022

So just what does a fifty-pound weight loss look like? As much as it pains me to do this, I am going to post the Before My Healthy Life Plan, Halfway to Goal, and After photos of my journey. My commitment level is through the roof!! Before starting my journey on the Healthy Life Plan, I only viewed myself from the front…and even that was done with one eye closed! When I saw the photos from the rear view, I just about died! I don’t know what I thought was going on back there, but it certainly wasn’t THIS! These photos provided a much-needed reality check for me, and while I still view them now with shock and horror, they were my reality back then. Thankfully I have made healthy changes and am determined to continue until I reach my goals. It is very clear that I am no photographer--I've never even taken a selfie; these are the best I have. The Before photos are me wearing size 20 pants and 2X plus size top. The Halfway to Goal are me wearing size 14 jeans and regular size large top. And months down the line I will be posting the After photos when I reach my goal weight! It's gonna happen y’all! Please take encouragement in knowing that if I can do this, you can do it, too! There is no time limit on becoming your healthiest self, you just need to start doing it, one step at a time. Be encouraged!!

This book tops most Top 100 Books in the English language lists, yet I don't think I ever finished reading it! After some encouragement from a favorite English major I know and love, I am starting over and vow to finish this time!

A sweet book to share with your grandkids. I did, and they loved the lovely, simple story that shares the bond between a grandmother and her grandbabies.

This touching book is based on a true story from the author's family. It is a meaningful book that became an annual event in my home.
